Meet our host in Dubrovnik Port and hop on a boat with us to kick off this three hours long adventure.

First we’ll show you around the island of Lokrum and explain why only peacocks are allowed to live there. This part of the tour will last for one hour, just long enough to get you hungry… we want you hungry because the food we have for you is sensational — fresh octopus from the island of Korčula, hard cheese from the island of Pag, delicious capers from the island of Palagruža… just to name a few 😉

Once you settle in the restaurant we’ll start the storytelling show with Damjana Ellis — a Croatian comedian based out of Canada. Known on stages of Toronto as “Croatian Sensation”, Damjana is crushing stereotypes about Eastern European women on stage and introducing the world to Croatian history and customs one joke at a time.

At last, before we boat back to Dubrovnik, we’ll serve a mystery dessert because once you sit in a Croatian house, we never stop feeding you.

How to recognise Dubrovnik Tours guides?

Our first stop is the meeting place. We will meet at the Amerling fountain, location is Brsalje 2, next to Dubravka gift shop, outside of the old town walls, contact us if you need help with finding the location or if you have questions about transportation from your accommodation. You’ll recognise our guide by a blue umbrella/your name on paper, we added to the photo section exactly what the umbrella looks like. The guide will check your reservation there and give you an outline of the day – introduce himself (herself) and describe briefly the places to be visited during this tour. There is an entrance fee to be covered extra – Lovrijenac fort.

2. Fort Lovrijenac – Amazing Red Keep

Fort Lovrijenac is situated on a cliff top and there are some stairs to be taken to the top, but once you’re there, it is worth the walk. In the gallery you may see some photos of the view from Lovrijenac castle. The walk to the top is not hasty and you will most definitely not be rushed by the tour guide. Below the Fort Lovrijenac is Pile Bay which was Blackwater Bay Battle location with many exciting scenes.

3. Old Town

Walking through the old town we will show you all filming locations starting from Pile Gate with the highlight – Walk of Shame. You’ll discover Dubrovnik was used for another big filming just recently.

4. Final stop of the tour

At the end of the tour, once we’re done exploring all sights of our Game of Thrones Walking Tour, we’ll take you to the Iron Throne, so you may take your photo on it.

Once you come to the meeting place and find the guide, your stroll down the old town streets will begin. The tour lasts for 3h and it finishes in the old town as well.

Franjo Tudjman bridge is connecting two sides of the shore and from there you see Gruž port at the palm of your hand, Lapad peninsula, Mokosica and the so-called river area. We will briefly stop above the bridge, for you to soak in the panorama and we’ll proceed afterwards our drive down the Adriatic road.

3. Mali Ston

You will have a panoramic drive along the Adriatic coast to the way to Ston. Your first stop will be in Mali Ston.

You will enjoy the boat ride to the oyster farms where you will get a chance to taste the fresh oysters directly from the sea.

4. Ston

Ston is known for the the second longest walls in the world and the oldest and largest preserved saltworks in the history in the Mediterranean. You will have free time to explore this small town and a chance to climb the walls.

5. Matusko Winery

Time for wine tasting! You will visit one of the best known wineries on the peninsula. This is the perfect opportunity to try the best red wine in the region.

6.Edivo Winery

Hidden botanical garden in a quaint village of Trsteno. From Dubrovnik to Trsteno there is about 30 minutes of driving. Arboretum was Gardens of King’s Landing in Game of Thrones and because it has many plants and trees, it’s always nice and cool, even in the hottest summer days.

We get to Lokrum by ferry, it takes about 15 minutes in one direction by boat. Amazing, lush, supreme Lokrum island which was serving as City of Qarth in Game of Thrones. For every GOT fan the absolute highlight is hidden on that little island – the Iron Throne, where you will make unforgettable pictures as The Ruler of The 7 Kingdoms. We’ll take a small break on the island for you to relax, have something to eat (there are two restaurants and a snack bar on the island; or you can bring a picnic) or have a swim if you’d like to, in that case, take a towel and bathing suits. Smoking and bringing pets to the island is not allowed. Also, there are no overnight stays on Lokrum. After brief sightseeing with your guide, you’ll have about 1 hour of free time on the island. Important note: sometimes because of the weather conditions the boats don’t operate, this is out of our reach. If that occurrence happens, the guide will give you instructions how the tour shall continue.

6. Free Time on Lokrum Island and Photo on The Iron Throne

We finish the tour on Lokrum island where you will after have some free time. In the summertime, it’s an ideal spot for swimming and sunbathing, so you can take your swimming gear with you. Description

Are you looking for a different scenery and culture close to Dubrovnik? This is the ideal tour for you then, which will immerse you into an orientally western experience.

Mostar is so close to Dubrovnik, but yet, it is almost a completely different world, in terms of architecture and cuisine. The historical center looks almost the same as it did in the Middle Ages, on every step of the way you can see the old Ottoman influence. Star of the entire city is its unique old bridge where daily brave men, from quite an altitude, jump into the chilly and fast river Neretva (for a tip of course).

The entire city is surrounded by tall mountains, so sometimes in May you can see the snow at the highest peaks, while it’s warm and sunny below.

Perhaps the best term that describes Mostar would be crossroad of civilizations – East blending in with the West. The bridge we mentioned a bit earlier is one of the most recognizable features of entire Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was built by the Ottomans and the bridge is one of their finest works they ever made in all of the Balkans. Needless to say, the vast Ottoman Empire that ruled almost the entire Balkan is Turkey today.

These disparities make Mostar very appealing to visitors and it’s no wonder that daily trips to Mostar are one of the most popular day tours from Dubrovnik.

We also included the visit to Kravice waterfalls. Croatia and Bosnia are both rich in well-kept and clean nature, and both countries are proud of their water supplies. Almost anywhere in Croatia you can drink water straight out of the tap, and it’s the same in Bosnia as well. This waterfall of Kravice is one of many Bosnia’s gems, the water is pristinely clear and cool, which makes this visit a great detour from congested and overcrowded urban areas.

Pocitelj village is another place we get too see before we arrive to Mostar itself – it is a fortified little settlement on a hilltop where’s a mosque, a clocktower and the view over the Neretva river from there is breathtaking. Population of the place is small; at the foot of the village you have local women selling their home-grown fruits to friendly tourists. Direct translation of the village’s name to English would be – to rest. Pocitelj was the place where merchants in the Middle Ages settled for a day, gave food and water to the animals and slept.

Mostar trips are full day excursions, we cross the border 3 times in one direction, have in mind to bring a bottle of water and some snacks just in case.

We will pick you up either with a car, mini-van or mini-bus, depending on how many persons there are in your group. Afterwards, we start our drive towards the border.

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) is Croatia’s neighbouring country, outside of the European Union (Croatia is a part of the EU since 2013) and you will need a valid passport, depending on the country you’re coming from, perhaps a visa as well. These are mandatory documents in order to be admitted to Bosnia and Herzegovina. In May, June, July, August and September, visits to BiH are the most popular, which means we may be waiting at the border for some time while getting in and out of the country. It’s important for us to leave Dubrovnik early in the morning so we get ahead of the crowds and spend an enjoyable, exciting day in a different country. There are 3 borders to cross before getting into BiH.

2. Kravice waterfalls

This is our first sightseeing. It’s a beautiful place where you will enjoy and relax in the nature. Just the view melts your heart and you will instantly fall in love. One of the top tourist attractions in Herzegovina and certainly the most beautiful one! In the summertime you may go swimming there as well, so we suggest you bring along your swimming gear.

3. Mostar

Once we’ve explored Kravice, our driver will take us towards Mostar. There you will be greeted by a local guide and taken on a tour of Mostar’s old town which looks like a postcard from the Ottoman era. Open-air bazaars, friendly locals, crystal-blue Neretva river, old bridge high-jumpers, mosques, smell of Turkish coffee in the streets are just samples of experiences from the tour. You’ll have free time to experience the city on your own and have lunch. Cevapi are very popular in Croatia too and can be ordered in many restaurants, but Mostar has some of the best cevapi parlors (cevabdzinice), we suggest you try cevapi while there.

4. Pocitelj

After seeing the streets of Mostar in your own pace, you will reassemble with your driver and proceed towards another picturesque site – Pocitelj village. It is a fortified little settlement on a hilltop where’s a mosque, a clock tower, and the view over the Neretva river from there is spectacular.

5. Return to Dubrovnik and your accommodation

Next stop after we’ve spent some time in Pocitelj is Dubrovnik. You will meet your driver again and head back towards your accommodation. The scenery and the drive will be almost exactly the same.

The Wild beauty, as Montenegro is called, will reveal green “fjords” to you. We understand it may sound almost impossible, but Montenegro is full of impossibly beautiful combinations. Kotor has an old town a bit smaller than the one in Dubrovnik and it’s breathtaking. The town is situated at Boka Kotorska bay in the foot of tall mountains. Bay of Kotor – Boka kotorska – is one of the largest bays at the Adriatic. Even though many refer to Boka kotorska as to a fjord, it is actually a ria – in translation, a sunken river canyon. No wonder that Kotor is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since the landscape is so impressive and unique, together with limestone Orjen and Lovćen cliffs.

Montenegro has Roman remains, it used to be a part of the mighty Roman Empire, just like the rest of the Adriatic, and we’ll explore Roman mosaics in Risan. Perast is close by and we will visit Our Lady of the Rocks – you’ll discover a very interesting and a powerful legend. As we’ll be heading back, we’ll shorten the trip a bit by taking a very brief ferry ride and you’ll see another perspective of Kotor Bay.

2. Perast and Our Lady of the Rock

Before we visit Perast and Our lady of the rocks, an artificial islet created by bulwark of rocks and by sinking old and seized ships loaded with rocks, we’ll stop at a panoramic lay-by Verige which offers an astounding view of Our Lady of The Rock and St George islets.

3. Kotor old town and free time

We will continue our private tour from Perast to the ancient town of Kotor. Your Kotor local guide will take you to visit the famous St. Tryphon Cathedral and the Maritime Museum of Kotor, which preserves the valuable exhibits of old traditions. If you wish, you can walk up the 1,350 steps to the Castle of San Giovanni and enjoy the fantastic view from above. After the old town tour, you have free time to enjoy the city on your own and have lunch.

4. Return to Dubrovnik and your accommodation

After your free time, you will meet your driver and head back towards the border and your accommodation. We will maintain our drive along the scenic coastline and take a short ferry ride across the Boka Kotorska Bay.

This is moderately demanding tour, but the guide will adjust to your pace if you need breaks during the tour, which is the biggest benefit of a private tour. Lovrjenac castle has seasonal opening and closing hours, have them in mind when planning the start of the tour, you can check here what they are. Lokrum island ferries run by a seasonal schedule and the island is closed during the wintertime (mid-November – beginning of April). You can check here Lokrum’s ferry schedule. Lush green gardens that belong to Lokrum island were a part of the scenery as well. Just 5 minutes from Lokrum harbor, a delight for all Game of Thrones fans lies – the Iron Throne, and you definitely don’t want to miss out on your chance to get a photo of you sitting on it! Besides memorable Khaleesi scenes, Lokrum has lovely natural beaches, several restaurants, peacocks and bunnies walking freely amongst tourist and the island itself offers many opportunities for relaxing, which all combined with Game of Trones scenes make the island a desirable location to spend the day.

Dubrovnik is exactly what George Martin had in mind when he was writing his captivating series of books and making the perfect setting for his imaginary world.

Our tour includes locations of Old Town, Lovrijenac (Red Keep) and Lokrum (Qarth). Island of Lokrum was turned into Game of Thrones visitor center where every true fan wants to be at because there is the Iron Throne, a gift given to Dubrovnik by HBO. The island is Dubrovnik’s green jewel where many locals seek relaxation after long working hours in the summertime. Peacocks and bunnies are the only island’s residents and they are very friendly.

The tour consists of two parts. Initially we explore the scenes taken at the old town and in its vicinity, including Lovrijenac fort. Those are some of the most impacting, plot-twisting moments in Game of Thrones. Afterwards, we visit Lokrum island which was City of Qarth.

Tickets to Lovrijenac – Red Keep and Lokrum – City of Qarth are extra charges. When we’ll be on our way to Lokrum, we’ll take the official island’s ferry and the ticket is valid in both directions – to and from Lokrum. The tour finishes on the island and you can decide on your own what to do – to immediately return to the old town or spend the rest of the day on Lokrum. If you choose the latter, make sure to bring along your swimming gear, a towel and some sunscreen. There are rocky and cliffy beaches on the island, two restaurants, a snack bar and plenty of options on how to spend your leisure time. Just have in mind that all visitors must leave the island untill the last ferry leaves – overnight stays are not allowed since the island is a nature protected forest reserve.

We will start the tour with a panoramic drive around Dubrovnik. You will first visit the bridge where you have time to make beautiful pictures of the new harbor. We will continue the drive along the river of Dubrovnik, to the highest point in town, mountain Srdj. 2. Franjo Tudjman Bridge

Franjo Tudjman bridge is connecting two sides of the shore and from there you see Gruž port at the palm of your hand, Lapad peninsula, Mokosica and the so-called river area. We will briefly stay on the bridge, for your to soak in the panorama and we’ll proceed afterwards our drive down the Adriatic road.

Today, they are a reminder of some distant medieval times. Luckily, we managed to preserve our city walls in the times when trends were changing, suggesting that any types of fortifications are obsolete and redundant. This is why Dubrovnik is today amongst the best preserved medieval cities in the world. Our walls surround the town for almost 2 km in length and once you are on them, the view is simply breathtaking. Terracotta roofs and narrow streets are all visible from above, clear vista over the Adriatic sea reveals just about any boat on the horizon, which gives a perfect explanation to why the city was successfully defended for centuries. Since 1979, Dubrovnik is under UNESCO protection.

The town survived many wars, including the recent Homeland war from 1991-1995, but Dubrovnik was renewed in a manner that the damage is not visible at all and it is difficult to imagine that not such a long time ago this ancient Mediterranean town was covered in rubble. 4. Lokrum Island Botanical Gardens

We get to Lokrum by ferry, it takes about 15 minutes in one direction by boat. Amazing, lush, supreme Lokrum island which was serving as City of Qarth in Game of Thrones. For every GOT fan the absolute highlight is hidden on that little island – the Iron Throne, where you will make unforgettable pictures as The Ruler of The 7 Kingdoms. We’ll take a small break on the island for you to relax, have something to eat (there are two restaurants and a snack bar on the island; or you can bring a picnic) or have a swim if you’d like to, in that case, take a towel and bathing suits. Smoking and bringing pets to the island is not allowed. Also, there are no overnight stays on Lokrum. After brief sightseeing with your guide, you’ll have about 1 hour of free time on the island. Important note: sometimes because of the weather conditions the boats don’t operate, this is out of our reach. If that occurrence happens, the guide will give you instructions how the tour shall continue.

5. Trsteno Arboretum

Hidden botanical garden in a quaint village of Trsteno. You’ll get to there by a comfortable bus which we previously organized. Once you get from Lokrum to the old town, your guide shows you to the bus (from old town port to there it’s about 10-15 minutes of slow walk on foot) and continues the tour with you. From Dubrovnik to Trsteno there is about 30 minutes of driving. Arboretum was Gardens of King’s Landing in Game of Thrones and because it has many plants and trees, it’s always nice and cool, even in the hottest summer days.

6. Mount Srd

This is our bonus for our guests – even though there were no grandiose Game of Thrones scenes taken at the top, there is a stunning view of Dubrovnik from Srdj, it’s the top of the cable car, so if you were thinking of taking that gondola to the top just because of the photos and the experience, we’ll save you some money. The peak is 415 meters (around 1200 feet).
